MLB All-Star Break

Another All-Star Break has passed and I am again reminded of how painful the few days of the year without the big 4 in regular competition can be. Highlights of the Tour de France, British Open Previews and Brett Favre rumors just aren't enough to justify my 7 hour per day addiction to ESPN. Now at 1:35 AM there is nothing worth watching and I catch myself in the throws of a Worlds Strongest Man marathon. Damn those Scandinavians are huge.

Each year some of the best hitters in baseball enter the Homerun Derby in hopes of entertaining the fans and hitting some banner parked 500 feet out in left center. Even Mickey Mantle thinks that thing is a little ridiculous.

I'm not sure which is worse after watching my DVR'ed Derby, the fact that Brandon Inge put up a goose egg or that Prince Fielder will likely hit about .240 the rest of the way in. Although, that would be an improvement for runner-up Nelson Cruz.

The All-Star Game carried itself in traditional form in recent years with the AL beating up on the National League. As a life-long Cubs fan I'm not accustomed to my teams winning anyway, so I can't say I was all that disappointed.

If nothing else, we can now officially end the Albert Pujols love fest on ESPN and go back to a general over appreciation and subtle man crush.
